Aurora man arrested for child abuse, kidnapping Friday

One person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting in Aurora on Thursday afternoon, according to Aurora police.

Police were alerted to the shooting, which happened in a parking lot behind a business on East Colfax Avenue at Ironton Street, just after 3 p.m. Thursday, interim Aurora Police Chief Heather Morris said. during an afternoon press conference.

“This is truly tragic because a man has lost his life and three other people have been injured,” she said.

The man died at the scene and the three injured people – two men and a woman – were taken to area hospitals, police said. The agency said they were all adults.

Morris said investigators don’t yet know if the four victims were shot by one or more people. She said the circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear, but police do not believe it was random or a drive-by shooting.

“We believe there is some sort of connection between the suspect and the victims,” Morris said. “We are still trying to determine what exactly that connection is.”

Detectives are working to identify a suspect or suspects, she said, urging any witnesses to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
