5.4 million views, Hulu record broken

According to Disney, the season 3 premiere of “The Bear” was viewed 5.4 million times in its first four days of streaming.

That’s not only the best performance ever for an FX premiere on Hulu, but also the most-watched season premiere for any scripted series on Hulu. Including unscripted series, “The Bear Season 3 is Hulu’s third-biggest season premiere of all time. (Note: A view is calculated by dividing the total time a title is viewed by its running time.)

Additionally, Disney says this season 3 of “The Bear” is bringing in 24% more views than the season 2 premiere during the same time. That marks the second consecutive season of growth for “The Bear,” which enjoyed surprising word-of-mouth success in Season 1 and grew viewership by 70% in Season 2.

The total viewership of 5.4 million is good for both Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the US, and on Disney+ in international territories where the episode was available, although the episode is not yet available in some territories. Disney says Hulu on Disney+ has given the season a “significant boost” and delivered Hulu’s biggest premiere on Disney+ since the bundle launched on March 27.

Season 3 follows Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and the rest of The Bear’s staff as they wade through the first days of the restaurant’s opening. Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Matty Matheson, Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon also star.

“The Bear” was created by Christopher Storer, who runs the show with Joanna Calo. Both serve as executive producers alongside Josh Senior, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matheson and Hiro Murai. Courtney Storer is co-executive producer and culinary producer. FX Productions is the studio.
