Firefighters contained a 5-acre brush fire Tuesday evening near a water treatment plant in Denver and Roxborough Park, according to Douglas County officials.

West and South Metro Fire Rescue crews responded to the fire near the Foothills Treatment Plant as of 5:15 p.m. fire officials said in posts on X.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office issued voluntary evacuation warnings for the area of ​​Rampart Range Road and Roxborough Park Road, but lifted them 40 minutes later as firefighters gained control of the fire.

Smoke is visible in the area and people should only call 911 if there is an active fire nearby, fire officials said.
