In recent weeks, Naija’s celebrity fashion scene has been on fire with bold attacks – a deliberate turn with neatly put-together ensembles imbued with unpredictability. For example, the stars known for their usual minimal indulgence embarked on an unusual color adventure. A few stuck with the familiar, but did not hesitate to stand out. Simply put, they came bold and ready.
The shades were especially interesting. From exploring new shades to expanding the versatility of combinations, Nigerian style stars were far from ‘business as usual’. The legs were usually out, either through outright mini pieces or high-slit ensembles. Cutouts also took center stage, with no attempt at soft pedaling – from statement cutouts to subtly sexy cuts. Birthday boy Tomike Adeoye was on leather, transparent and splashes of color for her birthday shoot. She wore a leather top with high and low hem, padded shoulder and cutout at the chest, styled with a sheer high-waisted maxi skirt in turquoise. Styling blue and red can be a tricky business: you look like a real clown or like a fashion adventurer who knows her onions.
