The new CEO of Wellcome Trust hopes Big Tech will become more involved in public health
LONDON – The key groups involved in tackling global health problems often include governments, foundations and pharmaceutical companies.
But for John-Arne Røttingen the new head of the Wellcome Trustone of the world’s largest private funders of biomedical research, there is another sector that should be involved: the technology industry.
The Alphabets and Amazons of the world have expanded their health-related initiatives, but the sector is rarely mentioned when neglected public health issues are discussed, Røttingen argued.
