Jake Tapper's unfiltered expression about the Biden campaign says it all

CNN’s Jake Tapper seemed decidedly unconvinced by the Biden campaign’s response to movie star George Clooney’s call for the president to abandon his 2024 run for the White House.

Clooney urged Biden to end his race in an op-ed for The New York Times on Wednesday, less than a month after hosting a fundraiser for the president.

“The Joe Biden I was at the fundraiser with three weeks ago was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010,” Clooney wrote. “He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed during the debate.”

During Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Lead,” CNN correspondent Kayla Tausche noted that a Biden campaign official’s response to Clooney’s essay read: “Clooney left three hours before the president.”

Anchor Tapper asked, “But what does that mean? That George Clooney left three before? What’s the point?”

Tausche tried to explain the comment: “The point of this is to suggest that Biden’s staying power is better than Clooney’s. And Clooney, you know, didn’t notice the whole thing. That is the answer to the Clooney op-ed.”

“Okay,” Tapper replied, appearing taken aback by the president’s team’s comment before chuckling a bit.
