The fashion world held its breath six months ago when rumors first surfaced of a collaboration between Jacquemus and Nike Air Max 1 sneakers. Now, after months of waiting, the wait is finally over. The highly anticipated collection has been officially confirmed and it’s everything we hoped for and more.

This isn’t your average Air Max 1. While the silhouette retains its iconic ’80s charm from afar, upon closer inspection, Jacquemus’ signature touch injects a good dose of freshness. Presented in a bold color palette including ‘Mystic Red’, ‘Summit White’ and the intriguing ‘Metallic Silver’, the collection offers a variety of options to suit every taste.

Built on a breathable mesh base, these specialty sneakers feature a series of suede overlays that elegantly wrap around the mudguard. But that’s where the traditional elements end. Jacquemus throws the AM1 rulebook out the window and opts for a sleek, minimalist aesthetic. Gone are the bulky leather sidewalls, replaced by a sleeker, more streamlined design.

The iconic Swooshes also get a makeover, reduced to a miniature chrome version reminiscent of those seen in Jacquemus’ Air Humara LX and J Force 1 Low collaborations. Subtle Jacquemus branding adorns the tongue and heel, while the biggest surprise lies underfoot. The midsole undergoes a complete transformation, with a brand new square air bubble: a first in the Air Max 1’s 37-year history.

For a touch of ultimate luxury, the sneakers have a soft, padded inner lining, which increases the comfort factor even further. Packaged in exclusive shoe boxes and accompanied by a unique leather label, these sneakers are every collector’s dream.

The Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 collection will release on the SNKRS app on July 23 in “Mystic Red” and “Summit White” colorways. It can also be purchased at Jacquemus stores, Nike locations and select retailers worldwide. Expect each pair to have a price tag of around $180. So mark your calendars, fashion fanatics and sneakerheads: this collaboration is not to be missed!
