Trump says he agreed to the Fox News debate in a desperate bid to avoid Harris on ABC

Former President Donald Trump shared on social media Friday evening that he has agreed with Fox News to participate in a September 4 debate with Kamala Harris, before suggesting that the vice president has not accepted such a confrontation.

“If for any reason Kamala is unwilling or unable to debate on that date, I have agreed with Fox to hold a major town hall on the same evening of September 4,” the Republican candidate wrote in a now-deleted post on his Truth Social platform .

Trump, who has pushed for another debate take place on Fox News instead of an ABC News-moderated showdown on September 10 reshared later are plans for debate without a town hall-style event.

Harris told an audience in Atlanta on Tuesday that she hoped Trump would reconsider meeting her on the debate stage at the time.

“Because as the saying goes, if you have something to say, say it to my face,” Harris said at a campaign rally.
