Disney TV streamlines casting operations

Disney Entertainment Television is streamlining its casting operations across multiple departments under the leadership of Sharon Klein.

Disney’s new casting hierarchy structure maintains a dedicated leader for Disney Branded Television in the form of Brenda Kelly-Grant. Stephanie Levinson remains head of casting for the 20th television studio and adds ABC Signature to her duties. Felicia Joseph will oversee ABC and add Hulu and Onyx to her portfolio.

Barbara Fiorentino, previously head of casting for Hulu, will assume responsibility for identifying global talent for a wide range of projects.

The shifts and consolidation Disney has made in casting are similar to the changes made to production and programming across the Mouse House’s many TV units.

Klein has long been a key player in casting for Disney and before that at 20th Century Fox. She was promoted last year to oversee all of these activities for Disney TV as executive VP of casting for Walt Disney TV.

Disney will announce its second quarter figures early Wednesday.
