Megyn Kelly appeared to be channeling her Gretchen Wieners on Wednesday — except instead of trying allow “collection” to happenshe tried to make ‘Tampon Tim’ a trending term.
The designation for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) is intended as an insulting reference to his decision last year to sign a bill requiring schools in the state to offer free menstrual products in all public school restrooms.
The bill would allow feminine hygiene products to be placed in both boys’ and girls’ bathrooms — something conservatives hope they can weaponize against Walz, who has chosen Vice President Kamala Harris as her running mate. 2024 elections.
On X, formerly Twitter, Kelly responded approvingly to a post describing “Tampon Tim” as “Kamala’s dead weight.”
“Tampon Tim is the name,” Kelly wrote to her three million followers. “That is it.”
The original tweet also stated that “Biden was Obama’s dead weight” and “Kamala was Biden’s dead weight,” referring to Democratic presidential tickets that chose voters for the White House in 2008, 2012 and 2020.
If Kelly expected people to get behind her and promote “Tampon Tim” as a mocking nickname for Walz, she was sorely mistaken.
Instead, many people, including Dr. Jennifer Gunter, a gynecologist in Canada, points out that the bill Walz signed is actually, well, good for people.
“Imagine being upset because someone doesn’t want children to leak menstrual blood on their clothes,” Gunter wrote in response to Kelly’s tweet. “You are in favor of period poverty, which seems very anti-Christian to me. Would Jesus have said, “Let them bleed blood on their clothes because they deserve it?”
Others also piled on Kelly, stating that “Tampon Tim” honestly sounds more like a term of admiration than mockery.
