Terrifying 'vacuum bombs' fall in Kursk during a Ukrainian invasion

Russia has escalated its efforts to repel Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region by deploying thermobaric bombs, a weapon known for its devastating impact. RadarOnline.com can reveal.

Often called vacuum bombs, these explosives can cause mass casualties by asphyxiating victims with deadly chemicals or exploding their lungs. Detectives on the front page reported.

Despite their terrifying effects, the use of thermobaric bombs is not considered a violation of international law, provided civilians are not specifically targeted.

This is yet another example of Russia deploying these terrifying weapons, following reports of a thermobaric bomb dropped on a Ukrainian oil depot in 2022. The precise location and damage caused by the latest attack in Kursk remain unclear.

Thermobaric weapons, originally developed by the Nazis during World War II and first used by the United States in Vietnam, work by releasing highly volatile chemical particles into the air before igniting them.

This creates a fireball that consumes the oxygen in the surrounding area, leading to a massive explosion and shock wave. The consequences can be devastating, with victims often suffocating or suffering severe burns.

The Russian response follows the recent attack by Ukrainian forces on Russian territory, which marked Russia’s first invasion since World War II.

Ukrainian forces have reportedly entered up to 20 kilometers of Russian land, killing hundreds of Russian soldiers, attacking a key airfield and causing widespread disruption in what has been described as a significant incursion.

In a speech on August 10, the Ukrainian president said Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to “restore justice” after the Russian invasion, praising his troops for taking the fight to Russian soil. He emphasized Ukraine’s determination to put pressure on the aggressor.

Reports suggest that the unexpected Ukrainian offensive has left the Russian president reeling Vladimir Putin alarmed and furious.

Over the past six days, Russia has made efforts to regain lost ground and prevent further Ukrainian advances. Moscow has declared a large-scale “anti-terror operation” in three regions, deploying significant military force to the front lines.

Russia’s Defense Ministry has announced the deployment of multiple rocket launchers, towed artillery guns, tanks and other heavy equipment to defend Kursk’s Sudzhansky district, a focal point of Ukrainian attacks since Tuesday. Footage has emerged showing a Russian SU-34 aircraft dropping a FAB-3000 bomb on Ukrainian forces trying to enter Russia.

Despite these efforts, Ukrainian forces continue to pose a significant challenge and are launching further attacks this weekend. The city of Kursk was hit by kamikaze drones and tactical Tochka-U missiles, causing widespread damage. One rocket reportedly hit a residential building, causing a fire, while another explosion hit a gas platform in the Black Sea.

As the conflict intensifies, thousands of Kursk residents have been ordered to evacuate the region. By August 9, at least 76,000 people had fled, while Russian authorities had set up temporary shelters in eight regions.

More evacuations are expected as the fighting shows no signs of abating, leaving locals scrambling to escape the violence by any means necessary.
