Vanilla and chocolate syrup recalled after consumer complaints about bloated bottles

Subso Foods Inc. of West Chicago, Illinois is recalling Fox’s u-bet brand of vanilla flavored syrup and sugar-free chocolate flavored syrup after testing and investigation of certain parties found that they did not meet specifications, including elevated pH and water activity levels. This may indicate microbiological activity and therefore pose a risk of foodborne illness.

This recall was prompted by a customer complaint about inflated bottles.

According to the details posted online by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), the recall was initiated on July 9, 2024 and is still ongoing.

The recalled product was distributed in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.

Consumers and retailers should not use this product. Recalled products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
