Willie Brown threatens to sue Trump if he 'continues' Wild Helicopter Story

Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown (D) did not rule out legal action against Donald Trump on Saturday after the Republican presidential candidate shared a bizarre story involving him and Brown experiencing a near-helicopter crash.

Brown — who Trump mentioned in the wild story during a wide-ranging press conference earlier this month — has disputed the former president’s claims that he joined him in a helicopter and denied that he told Trump:terrible things‘ about Vice President Kamala Harris, with whom he dated in the mid-1990s.

“If he keeps this up, I’m going to give him a taste of his own behavior at some point,” Brown said told CBS Newsadding that “someone has to make sure” Trump “stops lying.”

The former San Francisco mayor later pointed out that Trump told Maggie Haberman of The New York Times that he was “probably going to sue” the newspaper over its coverage of the story.

The Times reported that during his phone call with Haberman, the former president “strongly maintained” that he was in the helicopter with Brown when they experienced an emergency landing, despite the former San Francisco mayor’s denial.

“If he sues The New York Times for publishing stories where I said he was lying, I’m going to sue him,” Brown told CBS News.

Joseph Cotchett, Brown’s attorney, said Brown is not the type of person to file a lawsuit. according to San Francisco’s KRON-TV.

“He’s a man of good standing who has never filed a lawsuit in his life, but you know who’s pushing him to do that? A man named Trump,” Cotchett said.

JS has contacted the Trump campaign, which was not immediately available for comment.

Brown’s update comes after Nate Holden, a former Los Angeles City Council member and California state senator, told Politico he believed Trump was confusing him with the former San Francisco mayor in the story.

The former president did not share the helicopter story since Politico dropped the story on Holden.

Holden, in a telephone conversation with the New York Times said Saturday that Trump “must be held accountable” if he “promotes a lie.”

“I’m 95 years old, and Willie is 90, and he assumed we wouldn’t be here anymore, and no one would dispute that,” Holden said.

“Well, we’re alive and well.”

Brown acknowledged that it would be “bad” for his reputation if he were in a helicopter with the former president.

“That’s a bad place to be, especially with a guy who has 34 convictions,” Brown said.

“Nobody knows why he chose a helicopter – it was the most unexpected place to put me.”
