While the response to major events this past week was muted, that wasn’t a reason for the best-dressed Black celebrities to take the same approach to style. Despite the scarcity of occasions, the girls made up for the lack thereof with outfits that were hard to ignore. They opted for interesting cuts, luxurious textures and delicate silhouettes, pumped up with lots of personality. From magazine spreads to social media posts and streetwear, the unspoken theme was a witty combination of glamor and sass, and there was nothing mainstream about it.

Over the past week, the stars have been testing out shoes, especially boots. Although Mary J. Blige has been a boot connoisseur for a long time, her shoe game never gets old. The same could be said about Monica Denisewho paired her floral print denim boots with a handbag and her manicure. Another chic choice of the week was monochrome clothing. For both the minimalist and the daring fashion girlie, going head to toe with a shade added unique appeal. From red to white, the color games were safe and dominant.

The looks

Red has always been a powerful hue that somehow manages to boost confidence. The color fluctuated in different shades Chloe Bailey and Mary J. Blige – both with a sultry atmosphere. Ms Blige opted for a lace-up Jagne dress with gloves, a Sarah Sokol Millinery hat and Jennifer Lee thigh-high boots. The iconic singer always has a good shoe, both in and out of season. Chloe Bailey toned down the color and opted for a different shade, styled with silver strappy sandals. Her dress, decorated with fringes and a deep neckline, did justice to her figure. The red and silver combination hits with that old money energy. Simple, refined, refined and relaxed, the look was a little different from her regular, edgy choices.

Elsewhere, Alicia Keys caused an increase in demand for denim. She chose the denim-on-denim route to show that style is indeed in her genes. The singer strutted in dressed-up utility shorts with gold accents, styled with a gold turtleneck, a denim jacket and white pumps. The shades of gold married denim in an unproblematic union. Although gold is one of the colors of the season, boosting this color with premium denim is the right choice every time.

Brown is another trendy shade that the best-dressed black celebrities are discovering this season. Traditionally associated with autumn, this summer was in the spotlight. Top model Winnie Harlow took the hue for a twist in brown outerwear styled with a white midi dress. Brown and white is as classic as it gets. For a sexy, earthy finish, consider a sheer brown dress By Naomi Campbell offering for her role in Harper’s BAZAAR, finished with delicate jewelry and black pumps. Brown serves magic, whether it is combined with lighter or darker shades.
