Concertgoers mistake Vail's Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater for Colorado Springs' new Ford Amphitheater

The Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail never called itself the Ford Amphitheater, but the shortened handle stuck anyway.

It’s never been an issue until this summer, when a new location in Colorado Springs sold its naming rights to the Ford Motor Company, and the Colorado Springs location chose that name.

Notes Live’s new Sunset Amphitheater, now known as Ford Amphitheater, will offer concerts, upscale dining and more, according to owner JW Roth. (Provided by Shore Fire Media)

Some concertgoers predicted this would be a problem. On Instagram, one user predicted in a post announcing the venue’s new name that there would be “a lot of (dismayed) people buying tickets to the wrong venue.”
