‘Ted Lasso’ Eyes Season 4 Greenlighted

“Ted Lasso” is on its way to being greenlit for season 4, Variety has confirmed.

Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options for original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift. Jason Sudeikis is believed to be involved in the revival in some capacity as an executive producer. Warner Bros. TV declined to comment.

Waddingham, Goldstein and Swift are currently known because they are members of UK Equity and have different deals than the American SAG-AFTRA cast. Those negotiations will take place next.

There has been talk of a “Ted Lasso” revival since the show ended. In January, Warner Bros. CEO Channing Dungey teased. TV, with it Variety the possibility of the series continuing after the season 3 finale, which aired last year.

“I mean, you’ve seen the finale, there’s a little door that can be kicked open again if necessary,” Dungey said. ‘I wouldn’t put the period at the end of that sentence yet. There’s still a lot of love for ‘Ted Lasso.’ And I think there’s still a lot of enthusiasm at Apple for ‘Ted Lasso.’ If the opportunity arises, we would like to continue making more…. There are always conversations going on, but nothing is official.”

“Ted Lasso” follows Sudeikis as the title character, a small-town college football coach from Kansas who is hired to coach a professional football team in England despite having no experience coaching football. Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple and Phil Dunster also star.

The series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Hunt and Joe Kelly and is based on the existing format and characters of NBC Sports.
