Zayn Malik shows off full beard and looks drastically different in new photo

On Friday August 23 Instagram video, Malik, 31, showed off his latest facial hair style. The British singer, who sang into a red Supreme microphone, had grown his beard to cover his entire face. The beard was connected to his messy mane via long sideburns.

In the clip, Malik dressed casually in a white button-down and matching slacks, but it was the beard that had fans confused.

“Give me the hair care routine because how fast your hair grows,” one fan wrote via Instagram, while another added: “Damn that beard.”

Although Malik is not a prolific social media user, he last showed off the look earlier this summer. In a June Instagram selfie, the “Pillowtalk” singer rocked a close-shaven look, with just a hint of stubble.

During his tenure with One Direction, Malik was instructed to appear clean-shaven.

“There were certain limitations as to how we could get beyond that young teenage boy look. …I wasn’t allowed to keep it,” he said Complex in a March 2016 profile. “Eventually, as I got older, I rebelled against it and decided to keep it anyway. That was only because I looked older than the rest.”

Malik left the band in 2017 and soon decided to grow his facial hair.

“That’s one of the things that’s kind of cool right now. I can keep my beard,” he told the outlet. “I also wanted to dye my hair when I was in the band, but that wasn’t allowed.”

Malik has added numerous shades to his hair, although it is currently its natural brown color, which is exactly how he shows himself.

“Fashion will always be used as a form of expression,” he said GQ India in April 2021. “Fashion is part of the way I express myself, but it’s not just the only way I express myself. But everything is related.”
