Concacaf W Champions Cup schedule, standings, scores: how to watch on CBS Sports, Paramount+
A new international competition was officially added to the women’s football calendar on August 15, when the first-ever edition of the Concacaf W Champions Cup began.
The tournament is modeled on the men’s equivalent and designed to take advantage of the increasing attention and investment in the women’s game around the world. The Concacaf W Champions Cup will allow NWSL teams to test themselves against other top teams in North America, while the latter will have a bigger stage to play on as they compete against the US-based teams. The competition will also serve as a qualifying tournament for the first FIFA Women’s Club World Cup, which will feature 16 teams and is currently scheduled to take place in January and February 2026.
Three NWSL teams will participate in the inaugural edition of the competition: reigning champions NJ/NY Gotham FC, 2023 Shield winners San Diego Wave and NWSL Shield runners-up Portland Thorns. A total of eleven teams from North America are participating, including three from the Mexican Liga MX Femenil. Two teams compete for a spot in the group stage, where a total of 10 teams are divided into two groups.
The group stage will take place this autumn, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the semi-finals. The semifinals and finals will be single-elimination matches that will take place next spring at a location to be determined, as will the third-place match.
