France TV Distribution launches sales of 'A Night to Live'

France TV Distribution, the sales and co-production arm of public broadcaster France Televisions Group, launches young adult drama “A Night to Live” at the upcoming Unifrance Rendez-Vous taking place in Le Havre from September 2 to 6.

“A Night to Live” is distributed worldwide by France TV Distribution, the country’s largest TV exporter, and is produced by Wanda Productions, a Paris-based TV commercial production company that has diversified into music videos, photography, animated films and TV series for TV channels and streaming platforms.

This eight-part series consists of 26-minute episodes and will have its world premiere in the French competition at the Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle, which takes place from September 10 to 15.

“A Night to Live” (“Nos vies en l’air”) was written by Margaux Bonhomme whose debut, “Head Above Water,” scored two Cesar nominations and Victor Lockwood (“Mental,” “Nudes”). The series will debut on France Télévisions’ young adult Slash TV, one of whose hits is ‘Mental’.

Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2024, the series follows two teenagers, Mina and Ocean, who meet on the same roof in Paris as they contemplate jumping to their deaths.

Although on opposite sides of the track – Mina comes from the tough Belleville neighborhood of Paris, Ocean from a high society background – they connect and make a deal: to give life a chance for at least one night before deciding whether death is the only is an option. .

Mina is played by Inès Kermas, Ocean by Anthony Goffi (“Déter”).

Adapted from Manon Fargetton’s novel of the same name, ‘A Night to Live’ is directed by Anthony Jorge and Jonathan Cohen-Berry, who co-helmed ‘First Love’, which was hailed at 2018’s Series Mania as best short series and was produced by CG Cinéma for Blackpills.

“Suicide is the second most common cause of death among people between the ages of 15 and 24. And yet it is taboo and a very painful and personal subject, making it very difficult for young people to ask for help regarding their mental health,” the series said. ‘ writers and producers write in a note.

“On the other hand, an Ipsos survey, conducted on behalf of the Pierre Deniker Foundation, shows that 95% of young people are generally interested in life. We wanted Ocean and Mina’s story to fully reflect the contradiction,” she added.

The writers and producers of the series said they had no ready-made solution for such a complex topic. They do hope “that the series will encourage teenagers to open up to others.”
