Instagram model accused of fatal crash in Miami after running red light

An Instagram model from New York has been released on bail after driving with a suspended license when she allegedly caused a crash in Miami that killed two people and injured two others. RadarOnline.com can reveal.

Maecee Marie Lathers, 24, has now posted $26,000 bond and entered a not guilty plea on charges of vehicular homicide, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and fleeing the scene of an accident.

On August 10 around 6:45 a.m., Lathers is accused of speeding in her Mercedes-Benz on North Miami Avenue, according to police reports obtained by WPLG.

Lathers then allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a black Range Rover, causing a chain reaction collision between the Range Rover and a sedan, according to police.

The rear passenger in the sedan reportedly died at the scene.

The driver of the crashed vehicle, identified as Abraham Ismael, was recovered from the wreckage and later died at an area hospital. His wife Juanita Hernández, who was in the passenger seat of the sedan, and the driver of the Range Rover were both hospitalized.

Police were able to obtain security footage from the area, which shows Lathers walking away from the crime scene before witnesses pulled her back to the scene, police reports claim.

According to authorities, Lathers reportedly accelerated to 75 mph at the time of impact after traveling at 60 mph seconds before the crash. Police said she had her “accelerator at 100%.”

Officers responding to the fatal wreck noticed that Lathers reportedly appeared to be under the influence and questioned her, according to the reports.

Lathers allegedly told police during the crash that she was under the influence of a party drug known as “pink cocaine” and that “she was from the future and had a crystal ball,” the police report alleges.

Prosecutors argued for $500,000 bail during Lathers’ first court appearance on Aug. 16, emphasizing that she posed a “flight risk.”

The suspect’s attorney, Martez Gordon, responded in court: “She poses no danger to the community.” She graduated from college. She’s been in the state of Florida for almost two years, Your Honor. So I don’t think there’s anything to indicate she’s a flight risk.”

However, Judge Mindy S. Glazer of Florida’s 11th Circuit Court responded that Lathers “is an absolute danger to the community based on murder or driving when she should not have been in a car, and that she is clearly impaired based on her statements.”

The judge added: “And if the citizens or witnesses nearby had not stopped her, she would have fled completely.”
