In 2023, Apple surprised us with three special events.
WWDC in June and the launch of the iPhone 15 in September were both expected, but few people predicted that there would be another one for the Mac in October.
Despite the release of the Vision Pro in the US and the M3 MacBook Air in many countries in 2024, neither warranted a specific event.
All indications were that there would be no spring event this year. However, we now know that something will indeed happen soon. Here’s everything you need to know.
When does Apple usually hold events?
Apple typically hosts three or four live or livestream events each year to unveil its latest products. The events are generally scheduled at similar times each year:
- March/April/May: Spring event (not every year)
- June: Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC, every year)
- September: Fall/Fall Event (also known as the iPhone and Apple Watch Launch Event, every year)
- October/November: Late Fall/Fall event (occasionally)
Expect at least three in 2024, with two already confirmed and one more almost certain to happen.
When will the next Apple event take place?
Apple has confirmed that the next event will take place on May 7, 2024 under the theme ‘Let Loose’. The event is expected to focus on the iPad, with at least two models reportedly expected to be announced.
Make sure you read our guide on how to watch the next Apple event live if you want to tune in and not miss the upcoming announcements.
However, just a month later, the WWDC developer conference will take place.
Apple has already confirmed that it will hold a keynote on the first day of the conference June 10th 2024to officially unveil the biggest software announcements and possibly some new hardware.
What will Apple announce at its next event?
Since we now know exactly when two of Apple’s next events will take place, we’re exploring what might be revealed at both the spring event in May and the WWDC keynote in June.
Spring 2024 event
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, we’re getting a new iPad Pro, iPad Air, Magic Keyboard accessory, and Apple Pencil. In a separate Bloomberg article, he suggests that one version of the iPad Pro could include the M4 chip, which would be its debut.
Anyway, don’t expect a new iPad mini or regular iPad. Gurman says these won’t be released until late 2024 at the earliest.

WWDC 2024
As always, WWDC is expected to bring official previews of the following versions of Apple’s operating systems: iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11 and tvOS 18.
There is also a possibility for an update to Apple’s realityOS, which the Vision Pro runs on. For all software, AI developments are expected to take center stage this year.
While hardware announcements aren’t always the main focus at WWDC, they have happened in the past. Just don’t expect any new iPhones or Apple Watches to be announced before the usual September event.

Possible event in September 2024
Apple consistently hosts an event in September, usually to unveil new iPhones and Apple Watches. The only recent exception was in 2020 due to Covid-related production issues, which delayed the iPhone announcement until October.
Apple is expected to unveil the upcoming iPhone 16 series and new Apple Watches (Series 10, SE 3, Ultra 3). The Series 10 is rumored to be rebranded as the Apple Watch

Possible event end of 2024
They may not arrive in 2024, but new AirPods are expected soon, so they could arrive later in the year. Updates for the AirPods Max, AirPods Pro, and regular AirPods are all rumored, in addition to brand new, cheaper AirPods Lite.
However, if Apple holds an event after the iPhone 16 launch, it will likely be for new Mac devices.
Events from 2025
While it’s not always worth looking that far ahead, it’s already highly likely that the long-awaited next iPhone SE will arrive in 2025 instead of this year.
However, a foldable iPhone/iPad is not expected until 2026 at the earliest.
Here’s everything we know right now about upcoming Apple events and the devices that might be unveiled. If you don’t want to wait, take a look at what we think are the best iPhones and the best iPads you can buy right now.
