A nighttime explosion in Sedalia causes a fire and engulfs house
An early morning explosion in Douglas County sparked a fire that quickly engulfed a home and RV in Sedalia, sheriff’s officials said.
Douglas County sheriff’s deputies responded around 3:15 a.m. Saturday to reports of an explosion on Platte Avenue in Sedalia, the sheriff’s office said in a statement on social media.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a house and a camper on fire. A picture A report from the sheriff’s office shows the house fully engulfed in flames and the roof destroyed.
Officers immediately began evacuating nearby homes, while crews from the West Metro Fire Protection District and South Metro Fire Rescue began firefighting, the sheriff’s office said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
