Acer unveils new Predator gaming gear and more at Computex

Acer announced a slew of new gear today at Computex, including three new Predator gaming monitors, a new gaming router, and a compact 3D camera. There are also some new non-gaming things, like new smart monitors and a regular wireless router aimed at general use.

All of these new products will be available this year, Acer says, although the timing will depend on the product and not all will be available in all markets. One of the more interesting new products is the SpatialLabs Eye Stereo Camera. This is a compact 3D camera that is fully integrated into Acer’s range of SpatialLabs devices, such as monitors and laptops. What makes it interesting is its size and surprisingly simplistic usability.

It’s designed as a point-and-shoot solution for photographers looking to create content that Acer says will enable “effortless photo taking.” It has a resolution of 8MP per eye, with the ‘eye’ referring to each of the two lenses on the front. On the back there is a large display on which you can view your recordings. It also has a built-in “selfie mirror” for when you are both taking the photo and planning to be in it. Moreover, it is weatherproof, so it would be fine to use even if it rains a little. The company plans to launch this camera in the US starting in the third quarter for $549.

Acer brings new Predator gaming equipment to Computex

Acer is known in the gaming world for its wide range of gaming products. Including those from the Predator line. Today it announced three new Predator monitors, for just about every taste. If you’re looking for something small, there’s Acer’s new Predator X27U F3. It comes with a 26.5-inch OLED screen with a WQHD resolution. The real standout feature, however, is the monitor’s neck-breaking 480Hz refresh rate. This is a monitor that is definitely designed for competitive players, professional or not.

It also has a USB-C port in addition to two HDMI 2.1 ports for connecting both a PC and a console. Another nice feature is suitable for streamers. The tripod socket allows you to connect a webcam or screen light for your streams. With such a high refresh rate, it obviously won’t be cheap. Acer plans to launch it in the US in the third quarter starting at $1,200. For those who want something larger, there are two options over 30 inches. The 31.5-inch Predator X32 X3 and the 34-inch Predator X34 X5.

Both monitors also use OLED panels, but differ in a few areas. The X32 X3 has a standard 4K resolution with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. But it can also be used in a Full HD mode with a faster 480Hz refresh rate if players wish. The X34X5 meanwhile, it’s an ultrawide monitor with a UWQHD resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. It also has an 1800R curve. Both monitors have the same USB-C port and also two HDMI 2.1 ports. If you prefer DisplayPort, the X34 X5 offers this.

Both should launch in the US in the fourth quarter, with the X32 X3 starting at $1,200, and the X34 X5 starting at $1,100.

Make sure your network is set up for gaming with the Predator Connect W6x

If you’re into gaming and want a router that can handle the traffic, Acer has your number. The Predator Connect W6x is designed to cater to gamers. With features like Wi-Fi 6 support, it can deliver speeds of up to 6,000 Mbps. Acer says it can also handle near-zero packet loss, so your gaming sessions won’t be interrupted. There’s no pricing yet for the router, but it should launch in the US in the second quarter. Plus, there’s the Acer Wave 7 monitor which isn’t intended for gaming, but should work if that’s what you really want.

This router uses Wi-Fi 7 with a delivery speed of up to 6,400 Mbps and is even available in two different variants. One lets you switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, which is pretty standard. There is also a variant that allows you to switch between 2.4GHz and 6GHz networks. The Wave 7 should also be released in the second quarter, but the price is not yet known.

A range of new smart monitors for gamers and non-gamers alike

Acer’s Predator monitors are generally the flagship gaming options, but they have more to offer if you don’t want to spend that much. Today it announced two new Nitro monitors for gamers, both of which will be available in the US in the fourth quarter. The Nitro GA271U P with a 27-inch screen for $330, and the Nitro GA321QU P for $380. These both offer a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a refresh rate of 144 Hz with HDMI 2.0, or 180 Hz with DisplayPort.

For non-gamers there are the DA271K and DA321QK. As you might have guessed, these have 27-inch and 31.5-inch screens respectively. They are both 4K and have a 60Hz refresh rate. And since these aren’t intended for gaming, 60Hz is fine. These will also launch in the fourth quarter, with prices starting at $350 for the DA271K and $400 for the DA321K.
