Australian family served insect repellent as juice in restaurant

A complaint has been filed with the Public Health Department.

In a shocking incident, a family from Perth, Australia, was served insect repellent in the form of juice at a restaurant. Married couple Marcus and Michele Lemin ordered cranberry juice for their daughters from Miky’s Italian Restaurant on June 28, according to a report in the newspaper. New York Post. The incident is now being investigated by health authorities.

However, Hannah and Olivia, aged 11 and 12, were shocked and spat out the drink. Michele Lemin said, “My daughters just went to swallow it and they both spit out the cranberry juice and said, ‘It’s poisoned.’ I said, don’t be silly, and I grabbed the glass, and I went to gulp it down and then I spit it out.”

Now the concerned parents claim they were given a pink mixture of lamp oil and citronella torch. Marcus Lemin smelled the liquid and asked if he could see which bottle it came from. He said the employees at first refused, saying it was just “stale cranberry juice.”

Finally, however, he took the bottle out of the refrigerator. The man said he got an insecticide containing citronella from the beverage refrigerator. According to the report, the bottle was labeled “plus Bifenthrin” and contained a warning. “The manager wouldn’t give my husband the bottle, and another waiter stood up and told everyone everything was fine,” Michelle said.

The family was rushed to hospital, where they showed various symptoms and were kept under observation for six hours. The mother continued: ‘My daughters’ stomachs were burning, their fingers and hands were tingling. They had headaches… it was terrible.”

Twelve-year-old Hannah told the story 9News that it was “really disgusting, and what you would expect insect repellent to taste like”. Olivia added: ‘It felt like someone had poured fire on your stomach and it felt like you had pins and needles in your arms and legs.’

A complaint has been filed with the Ministry of Health and the municipality. The restaurant said it was investigating the incident. An employee told 9News the situation was “very concerning.” “Everything about this is under investigation and when I know exactly (what happened) I will let you know,” he said.
