Britney Spears blasts Halsey over ‘Lucky’ video and immediately returns
Halsey‘s new song, “Lucky”, fails to become a hit Britney Spears — or so it seemed, based on an angry post accusing Halsey of stabbing her in the back… a post she deleted almost immediately.
The new music video, directed Gia Coppola, depicts the highs and lows of Britney’s career… with a nearly naked Halsey portraying the pop princess. The song also contains a sample of British song of the same title.
Hours after the video dropped… Britney took to X ā where she has more than 54 million followers ā to slam Halsey for feeling “intimidated, violated and bullied.”
In fact, she was so angry about the portrayal of her life that she contacted her lawyers, saying it felt “illegal and downright cruel.”
It’s a detailed and seemingly well-thought-out response, but less than an hour later Britney denied the message, saying, “That wasn’t me on my phone!!! I love Halsey and that’s why I deleted it š¹!!!”
The initial harsh response had to come as a surprise to Halsey, who previously said she got it from Britney blessing to reuse the pop icon’s 2000 hit.
For now, Britney says she’s cool with Halsey, the song and the music video.
We’ve reached out to Halsey for comment…so far no word back.
