Celebrities support Kamala Harris for president

After Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, he endorsed the vice president Kamala Harris to run as a candidate for the Democratic party. Celebrities have since expressed their love and support for Harris, among others Aaron Sorkin.

The West wing The creator chose to support Harris after Biden’s decision to step aside.

He wrote on X: “I take it all back. Harris for America!” The message was a reference to his essay in The New York Times in which he proposed Mitt Romney to become a candidate for the Democratic Party.

Ariana Grande subtly voiced her support by reposting Biden’s endorsement of Harris on her Instagram Stories. She also urged fans to participate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election by adding a voter registration link to the post.

While Barack Obama initially did not side with Biden over his support for the vice president, the former US president officially endorsed Harris in an emotional phone call on July 26.

He said to Harris: “Michelle [Obama] and I couldn’t be more proud to support you and do everything I can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office.”

In her endorsement statement to The New York Times says Barbra Streisand expressed her enthusiasm to support Harris as she “commits to restoring women’s reproductive freedom and continuing the achievements begun during the Biden-Harris administration.”

Streisand shared a similar statement Xwhich she posted after Biden withdrew from the election.

She wrote: “Kamala Harris will continue Joe Biden’s work and be a great president.”

On July 24 Instagram post, Busy Philip showed her support for Harris by promoting the campaign Answer the call. The goal is “to organize, encourage and mobilize white women to show up with their human, social and financial capital in the name of electing Vice President Kamala Harris America’s next – and first female – president.”

Charli XCX took her approval to the next level while referencing her album, Brat.

She wrote in a July 21 tweet: “Kamala IS brat.”

Christie Brinkley responded to Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, sharing on her Instagram that “sometimes the best man for the job is a WOMAN.”

Part of the model’s statement read: “Kamala Harris for the people! And we are the people for Kamala Harris! She has earned her stripes and is a star.”

After shocking the public with a New York Times op-ed urging Biden to drop out of the race, George Clooney declared in a statement that he is Team Harris CNN.

The 63 year old Ticket to paradise star said: “President Biden has shown what real leadership is. He saves democracy again. We are all so excited to do what we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest.”

On X, Star Trek actor George Takei invited his followers to unite support Harris in the coming elections.

Takei said: “I want to honor President Joe Biden. He has served our nation admirably for decades; he is a decent, honorable man, a hugely successful president and a patriot. Now let’s unite behind Kamala Harris and defeat her Donald Trump in November!”

Jamie Lee Curtis also joined the long list of celebrities who have endorsed Harris for president.

The Crazy Friday star wrote: “I wholeheartedly support Joe Biden and his decision to resign and unconditionally support Kamala Harris. SHE IS TRUSTED AND TESTED and she is a fierce advocate for women’s rights and people of color and her message is one of HOPE and UNITY for America in its time of great national division.”

Jessica Alba uploaded a photo with Harris on Instagram next to the caption: “I rode with you for a thrilling minute – I’m glad you’re making history Kamala Harris ❤️ Let’s go 👊🏽!”

On Instagram, Johannes Legend endorsed Harris after thanking Biden for his contributions to the US during his term as president.

The Ordinary people singer, 45, wrote: “She is ready for this fight and I am excited to help her in any way I can.”

On X, Kerry Washington applauded Biden’s “brave and bold” decision to withdraw from the election before endorsing Harris.

The Scandals actress wrote: “Make no mistake. Our struggle now remains EXACTLY the same. We must do everything we can to prevent another Trump presidency and an authoritarian government.

“Kamala Harris can and will win this! I believe in her and I believe in us. Let’s go!”

Mark Hamill also threw his support behind Harris in a post on to write: “Vote for the candidate who will both honor and advance his legacy: Kamala Harris #HamillHeartsHarris 🫶.”

In a post on Instagram, Octavia Spencer showed her love for Harris and Biden as she endorsed the vice president.

Spencer said: “The time for wringing hands and grinding teeth is over! We have to save ourselves! DEMOCRATS…ASSEMBLE! #Harris2024 #SayItWithYorFullChest #ImWithHer.”

Olivia Rodrigo endorsed Harris, sharing a video of the vice president’s speech in which she declared she would “stop Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans.” The Vampire hitmaker previously made headlines for offering free emergency contraceptive pills at her concerts.

Rosie O’Donnell Harris gave her endorsement on X when she reposted Biden’s announcement on Instagram.

The comedian, 62, captioned the post: “Thanks Joe Biden – let’s go! #voice #harris #energize.”

Shonda Rhimes uploaded photos of herself with Harris in support of her presidential bid.

The Grey’s anatomy Creator wrote: “I stood with her in 2016 when she ran for Senate, I stood with her when she ran for vice president and I continue to stand with her today.”

Spike Lee also informed his followers that he would support Harris by writing further Instagram: “AGAIN A SISTA DA RESCUE COMES.”

Tina Knowles wrote on Instagram: “Go Vice President Kamala Harris to become president. Let’s go ❤️❤️❤️❤️”

Wanda Sykes declared Harris her president by posting that of the lawyer photo next to the caption: “Let’s go!”

On her official social media pages, Yvette Nicole Brown gave her support to Harris prior to the elections.

Brown said: “I’m sure it goes without saying, but I fully stand behind (and stand by 😜) my Soror, the amazing Kamala Harris! She has my FULL support for President of the United States!”
