Cosmic Bomber is a kind of Bomberman multiplayer combined with Web3

Game studio nWaya division of Animoca Brands, has launched the beta for Cosmic Bomber, a casual multiplayer action game that is akin to Bomberman meets Web3.

The web and PC game is the latest addition to Mocavers‘s social gamification hub Cosmic Club. The Cosmic Bomber beta is now available exclusively to the 1.79 million Moca ID holders via this link. nWay also has Olympics Go! Paris 2024, the official video game for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in June.

Cosmic Bomber is a Bomberman-style action maze game in which players strategically place explosive magic balloons to outsmart and ultimately eliminate rival teams. While avoiding splash damage or being tagged by your opponents, you navigate through various blocks that, when destroyed, unlock special items to improve your path to victory. The game features real-time multiplayer competition, digital ownership of unique characters, and an innovative hybrid economy that allows all players to earn, spend, and sell sustainably.

Change of leadership

Cosmic Bomber has crazy action.

The game’s developer, nWay, is known for many of its action and fighting games. I recently wrote about it after interviewing nWay founder Taehoon Kim about Wreck League, a mech fighting game that launched last year as a hybrid Web2 and Web3 game. In December, Kim left the company and co-CEOs Kristen Salvatore and Steve Kuroki took over. I spoke with Salvatore about Cosmic Bomber, a smaller-scale project than Wreck League that took a few years to complete.

Salvatore, the marketing head, and Kuroki, the creative leader, were complementary, so they decided to run the company together. I asked how Wreck League, a mech game with an interesting strategy to make Web2 and Web3 players need each other in a symbiotic way, turned out. Salvatore noted that the game’s launch offered many lessons and that they were still working on it.

But she noted that Web3 gamers aren’t as hardcore an audience as expected, and it took a while for players to get the hang of it in Wreck League. Meanwhile, Cosmic Bomber is aimed at a much more casual audience.

Cosmic Bomber is aimed at a casual audience.

“I will say I think we learned a lot,” Salvatore said. “This game is very different. Wreck League was our first attempt at taking what we knew from the great Web2 games and seeing what elements could be brought into Web3 in a meaningful way. It was a little ahead of its time.”

Many Web3 gamers may not do this for the skill. Instead, they might want something engaging and fast-paced that they can play while they’re on the run. Salvatore said Wreck League has since added automatic battles and is evaluating a possible chain migration. All you have to do is look at the popularity of the simple Hamster Kombat game on Telegram to see what works with Web3 gamers.

Cosmic Bomber has been in the making for just under a year now. It’s an acknowledgment that casual gameplay may be more suited to Web3 players at this point. Players can compete with each other on leaderboards for rewards for playing on the chain.

The game is free to play and monetized through a season pass. Eventually, tokens will emerge that provide opportunities for players to become more involved and participate in the economy. But the emphasis in the game is on creating fun experiences for the player, Salvatore said.

Later, the company will consider making the game for iOS and Android, within the confines of Web3 rules on those platforms.

Cosmic Bomber is a Web3 game.

Cosmic Bomber leverages nWay’s experience in multiplayer gaming and features real-time player-versus-player (PvP) competitions, digital ownership of unique characters, and an innovative hybrid economy that allows all users to sustainably earn in-game assets , publishing and selling. . Cosmic Bomber runs on dynamic seasons that introduce new IPs and bring new characters and maps to the Cosmic Bomber universe.

nWay partners with Mocaverse, which has a Web3-friendly consumer network with an interoperable infrastructure layer of account, identity and reputation systems developed by Animoca Brands. Mocaverse presents Season 1 of Cosmic Bomber in Mocaverse’s Cosmic Club social gaming hub. Cosmic Club creates a cross-ecosystem synergistic platform to enhance user onboarding and growth, and use PvP elements to promote social interaction among Web3 communities.

Cosmic Bomber beta is now available to 1.79 million holders of Moca ID, Mocaverse’s decentralized identification code (DID) that gives users access to the growing Moca network and participating projects across Animoca Brands’ portfolio of more than 540 Web3 Investments.

Moca ID holders can earn Realm Points (RP), Moca ID’s loyalty points, by playing and competing in Cosmic Bomber. As part of Cosmic Club, players can spend RPs to register for special tournaments and climb the leaderboards to win more RP rewards.

The Cosmic Bomber game is part of a larger ecosystem that nWay is building called Project Wonder, which brings different types of games into the same community.

Cosmic Bomber reminds her of simple experiences that are deeply satisfying. You lay down bubbles and try to trap the other bombers and take them out. The action is fast and immediate. The games are bomb fights where you try to catch the other players within a few minutes.

“It’s a Bomberman style game. The seasonal content will be much more in the form of cosmetics and different season passes,” said Salvatore.

You can play it two against two or free-for-all with four players.

Kenneth Shek, project lead for Mocaverse, said in a statement: “We are incredibly excited to partner with nWay to launch the Cosmic Bomber beta exclusively for our Mocaverse community. Cosmic Bomber will be a great addition to Cosmic Club and its goal of encouraging social interaction among Moca ID holders.”

Steve Kuroki, co-CEO of nWay, said in a statement: “We are excited to welcome players to Cosmic Bomber! Our goal was to create a game that is both familiar and easy to enjoy. With strategic, casual gameplay and a playful aesthetic, Cosmic Bomber offers fun competition with the chance to earn exciting rewards. We can’t wait for players to dive into this exciting adventure and fight their way to the top.”

nWay is made up of highly experienced developers and executives who have worked at many leading technology companies, including Google, Tencent, Sony, Electronic Arts, Nintendo, LucasArts, Blizzard, Kabam, Nexon and NCSoft.
