A 46-year-old Arapahoe County man accused of fatally shooting his estranged wife the day before their divorce was finalized was found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted kidnapping and use of a stun gun after a jury trial Thursday.
David Lechner was arrested on March 30, 2023, after police found 42-year-old Tracy Lechner shot outside a home in the 5200 block of South Geneva Way near Cherry Creek Reservoir. She died on the spot.
According to previous reports, police found David Lechner with a “go bag” filled with approximately $10,000 cash, a passport and credit cards after his wife’s murder.
According to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the jury deliberated less than four hours before finding David Lechner guilty of three of the four charges against him. He was acquitted of one charge of criminal threatening.
David Lechner will be sentenced Monday.
