Disneyland employee dies after golf cart accident

Authorities say a Disneyland employee has died after falling from a golf cart and hitting her head at the theme park earlier this week.

Anaheim police said authorities responded to the Southern California theme park Wednesday morning after a woman fell from a moving golf cart in the park’s “backstage area” and hit her head, local news station KTLA reports.

She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and died from her injuries on Friday.

The woman was identified by Disneyland as Bonnye Lear, 60, NBC News reports.

Lear rode as a passenger in the cart and the driver was not injured. No drugs or alcohol are suspected in the incident, according to TMZ.

She worked as an administrator for the exclusive Club 33 restaurant in Disneyland. She was a theme park employee and spokesperson for Disney for 24 years told The Hollywood Reporter.

JS has reached out to Anaheim police for more information.

In a statement to Entertainment WeeklyDisneyland Resort President Ken Potrock said they are “heartbroken” over the loss of Bonnye and “extend our sincere condolences to all who cared for her.”

“Right now, we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members during this tragic event and ensuring they have the resources they need,” Potrock added.

The incident is under investigation by traffic detectives with the Anaheim Police Department.
