Dolly Parton wants to appear in Jennifer Aniston's '9 to 5' remake

Dolly Parton is ready to work 9 to 5 again.

The country music legend shared E! News in an interview on Monday, June 3, that she would like to appear in a remake of her 1980 classic comedy, produced by Jennifer Aniston.

“I am,” Parton, 78, said when asked if she was excited about Aniston’s take on the film. “Years ago, when we made the movie Dumplin’there was something she might want to do 9 to 5and I said, ‘Oh, that would be great.’

“I hope they use my song, and I hope they find a way to bring Lily, Jane and me back,” she added.

9 to 5 starring Parton, Lily Tomlin And Jane Fonda as three working women who plot to overthrow their misogynistic boss. Parton also contributed the hit “9 to 5” to the film’s soundtrack. The track was at the top Billboard Hot 100 and received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song in 1981.

“It’s great to be a part of something that has been so powerful over the years,” Parton said. E! News. “It’s really great to be part of something that can really change the course of life for everyone. I really think this has attracted a lot of attention [gender] equivalence.”

As for the remake, Parton is on board with her goddaughter Miley Cyrus in the role of Doralee Rhodes, the sexy secretary Parton played in the original film.

‘Wouldn’t she be great? Well, she knows me. She knows the memories I have [from the movie],” she said E! News.

According to The Hollywood ReporterAniston produces a “reimagining” of it 9 to 5 through her production company Echo Films, with Jennifer’s body And Juno author Diablo Cody set to write the script.

Parton’s costars, Tomlin and Fonda, recently showed their support for the project.

“Good luck to them. It’s fun. I wish them the best of luck. They are very talented,” said the 86-year-old Fonda Entertainment tonight on May 29.

“Oh, I’m very excited. I’m glad to know someone else is working on it and may they be successful with it,” Tomlin, 84, added.

Before the remake was announced, the original stars had talked about a sequel over the years, but Parton said in 2019 that she, Tomlin and Fonda had “dropped that whole idea.”

“I don’t think we’ll do the sequel. We were never able to get the script to be that different from the first one, and it turned out so well,” the singer said Entertainment tonight.
