Jude Bellingham’s breakout year shows no signs of slowing down. This time he saved England just before the country was eliminated by Slovakia in the eighth finals of the 2024 European Championship on Sunday. England earned a throw-in in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time, with Kyle Walker taking a long time to send the ball straight into the penalty area. Marc Guehi received a light tap on the ball where Bellingham was waiting in front of goal. The UEFA Champions League winner wasted no time in scoring and did so in spectacular fashion, kicking in a bicycle kick to make it 1-1.

The Three Lions, one of the pre-tournament favorites to win the entire tournament, went down in the 27th minute to a goal from Slovak Ivan Schranz and spent most of the match looking for an equalizer. They were largely unsuccessful, taking twelve shots ahead of Bellingham’s attack but failing to put one on target, replicating their less-than-ideal form of the tournament so far, scoring two goals in three matches en route to the round of 2. 16.

England quickly took the lead as extra time began, with all-time top scorer Harry Kane scoring just one minute after half-time.

The epic moment is just a continuation of an impressive season for the 21-year-old, who scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in his debut season with Real Madrid. He adapted exceptionally well to life in the Spanish capital and won La Liga Player of the Year honors as the team won the league and the UEFA Champions League.
