Ex-CIA director says what ‘concerns me most’ about Trump’s immunity scheme

Former CIA director John Brennan on Thursday – July 4 – denounced the US Supreme Court’s grant of total immunity to Donald Trump for “official” acts committed during his presidency.

“This is certainly not the America I thought we would be living in as we celebrate the 248th anniversary of our country’s independence,” Brennan, who led the CIA from 2013 to 2017 and served six presidents, said. wrote in a thought-provoking op-ed for MSNBC.

What horrifies and concerns me most is the abject ignorance and apparent indifference of the six conservative justices who handed down the ruling, Brennan said.

Brennan addressed the topic in an interview later Thursday on MSNBC, warning how the decision would allow a future president — like former president and current presumptive GOP presidential nominee Trump — to do virtually anything he wanted without legal consequences.

“It’s devastating,” Brennan said.
