Feds raid Pennsylvania home of Trump would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks

Before the attack, Crooks had no known ties to extremist groups, a law enforcement source said.

Friends and acquaintances from Crooks’ high school also describe him as a quiet but intelligent person who showed no signs of violent tendencies.

“We are all shocked. This is not the Thomas we knew,” said a fellow high school graduate who asked to remain anonymous.

In a statement, the FBI said:

“The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the subject involved in the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and anyone with information that can assist the investigation is encouraged to submit photos or videos online at FBI.gov/butler or call 1-800-CALL-FBI.”

“We do not have an identified motive at this time,” FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Kevin Rojek added during a briefing Saturday evening.

Thugs opened fire with an AR-style rifle from a position on the roof of a shed outside the security perimeter.
