Goat's milk formula recalled because it did not provide adequate nutrition when used as infant formula

Healthwest Minerals, Inc. d/b/a Mt. Capra Products of Chehalis, WA, upon recommendation of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is recalling 1,506 cases of Goat Milk Formula Recipe Kit and advising consumers to immediately stop using the product as infant formula.

The FDA is concerned that the formula does not meet all FDA requirements for infant formula, does not provide sufficient nutrition when used as infant formula, and that the storage instructions may be inadequate for the product. Infants who consume the recalled product without additional iron supplementation may develop iron deficiency anemia and feeding intolerance.

The Goat Milk Formula Recipe Set 10 lb 8 oz was sold through Mt.’s online store from May 1, 2023 to May 1, 2024. Capra (mtcapra.com) or a store in Chehalis, WA.

Recalled product packages have one of the following affected lot codes:

The FDA notified Mount Capra of a report of an adverse reaction to anemia in one infant. The FDA determined that while the caregivers used the goat’s milk formula recipe kit and prescription, the caregivers substituted some ingredients with another brand of multivitamin, creating a product deficient in vitamin B12 and folic acid and ultimately resulting in the development of anemia.

The company does not recommend the use of this product for infants from 0 to 12 months. If you climb Mt.
