'Groomsmen' trilogy set in Hallmark, Tyler Hynes, Jonathan Bennett, BJ Britt Lead

Hallmark is flipping the script with their upcoming trilogy, “The Groomsmen.”

The first series of romantic comedies, told from a male perspective, follows the lives and romances of three longtime best friends who stand by each other on the most important days of their lives. Pete (BJ Britt) is a “kind-hearted pediatrician with a penchant for planning,” Danny (Jonathan Bennett) is a “baseball coach with a heart of gold,” and Jackson (Tyler Hynes) is a “stylish and charming social media agent.” .”

All three “Groomsmen” films, subtitled “First Look,” “Second Chances” and “Last Dance,” follow the men as they find love and “marital bliss” in Greece, Italy and Bulgaria. The trilogy will debut on Hallmark+ this fall.

The film marks the second Hallmark movie for Britt, who starred in 2022’s “The Holiday Stocking,” while both Bennett and Hynes have become regulars at the network. Both actors are also executive producers of the film, alongside Ryan M. Murphy for Groomsmen Road Productions Ltd. Allen Lewis, Ron Oliver and Marnie Young serve as co-executive producers, with Kristina Kambitova and Phillip Roth supervising as producers. Charles Cooper is a producer. Oliver directed the three films.

“We can’t wait for viewers to join us on these romantic journeys in new and fresh ways as we tell this story from the groom’s side for the first time ever,” said Philicia Kennedy-Flamer, programming manager at Hallmark Media. “Jonathan, Tyler and BJ are a dream team. Their performances are infused with humor and warmth that bring these stories to life beyond our expectations and create something truly special.”

Hallmark Channel has had success with trilogies in the past. “The Wedding Veil,” led by Lacey Chabert, Allison Sweeney and Autumn Reeser, debuted with three films in 2022, followed by three more films in 2023.
