Hit Amazon Australian Series, heading into second season

Deadloch, an Amazon original comedy-drama series from Australia, has been greenlit for a second season

The first season brought together two very different female detectives to solve the murder of a man and was set in Tasmania. While Kate Box and Madeleine Sami return in the second season as detectives Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe, the action shifts to tropical north Queensland, known locally as the ‘Top End’.

“The detective duo investigate the death of Eddie’s former police partner, Bushy, in Darwin, but when the bodies of two Top End icons are discovered in a remote town, they are thrown into a new sweaty, trickier investigation,” the official said. short content. Other cast reprising their roles include Nina Oyama and Alicia Gardiner.

Production on the six-episode second season will begin later this year and the completed show will be released worldwide on Prime Video at an unknown date. Principal photography also includes a stay at Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane, as well as use of the state’s waterways.

The first season of “Deadloch” was a critical and audience success. The film won five AACTA Awards earlier this year, including Best Acting in a Comedy for Box and Best Television Screenplay for Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan. The series recently scored three nominations at the 2024 TV Week Logie Awards, including best scripted comedy programme.

It also reached Prime Video’s Top 10 TV Shows list in more than 165 countries and territories, including the US, UK and Canada.

“Deadloch” S2 was created and written by McCartney and McLennan, who also serve as executive producers, alongside Kevin Whyte and Tanya Phegan of Guesswork Television. Andy Walker is the producer and the series is directed by Beck Cole and Gracie Otto. Production company credits go to Prime Video, Guesswork Television and OK Great Productions.

“Deadloch” S2 is funded with the help of Screen Territory and supported by the Queensland State Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy.

“Smart, slyly satirical and downright funny, season two picks up where season one left off,” said Kevin Whyte and Tanya Phegan, executive producers, at Guesswork Television.
