Nigel Farage has responded to British Gas Chief Executive’s demands for smart meters to be mandatory in Britain, saying he will never get one and that many people who do are being ‘bullied into it’.

Farage also suggested that the reason many British households don’t have one is because they don’t trust utilities, fearing their supply will be turned off.

Speaking GB News Nigel Farage said: “I think most people get smart meters because they are effectively bullied into it. I keep receiving letters stating that I urgently need to purchase a smart meter.

“There was a knock on the door telling me that I had to purchase a smart meter.

“I don’t get a smart meter.

‘They’ll tell you you’re going to save money and all the rest, but of course you don’t.

“Why? Because they use it because they want to – and they admit it – the water companies have openly admitted that they control demand, which means they can turn you off at their convenience.

“If the windmills and solar farms don’t produce enough electricity, they can just as easily shut you down with water, and the same, indeed, with gas.

“Chris O’Shea, the boss of British Gas, made £8.2 million last year and said smart meters should be mandatory in every household to, you guessed it, meet Net Zero targets.

“There you are. There you are, you need to be connected to a smart meter to comply with Net Zero.

“He’s alarmed that 44% of his customers don’t have them and that may well be the case, Chris O’Shea, because they don’t actually want them because they don’t trust you or any of the other companies.”
