Using food safety news guide for restaurant inspections
To help consumers make informed decisions about where to eat, Food Safety News has created a guide to restaurant inspections. Local public health departments regularly inspect food establishments to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. These inspections are intended to prevent contamination from food handlers, cross-contamination and other sources.

Environmental health inspectors check for several important safeguards, such as ensuring employees wash their hands properly, utensils and surfaces are disinfected, and that no pests are present. Inspection reports can be accessed through local health departments or online and provide valuable insights into restaurant cleanliness.

Food Safety News has compiled a comprehensive list of available online inspection data, which consumers can access to find inspection reports in their area. The directory is continually updated based on reader input, and contributions from new sources are encouraged.
