Arvada police arrested a 30-year-old Jeffco Public Schools substitute teacher and after-school worker on child molestation and child molestation charges Wednesday.
Justin Joshua Martinez was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust and child abuse. Arvada Police Department said in a press release. The assault charge included that the victim was under the age of 15 and was part of a pattern of abuse.
Martinez most recently worked in the before-and-after-school programs at Red Rocks Elementary School in Morrison, Arvada police said.
He was hired in 2011 and has worked in after-school programs and as a substitute teacher throughout the school district, including at Lawrence, Stevens, Vivian, Swanson, Secrest and West Woods elementary schools in Arvada, Wheat Ridge and Lakewood.
Martinez is being held in the Jefferson County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
