Jodie Turner Smith is not here because of the pressure placed on mothers.

Turner-Smith, 37, shared a video via Instagram Stories on Tuesday, April 23, with the caption: “Anyone who normalized that women were ‘fully healed and recovered’ six weeks after giving birth… was lying.”

Alongside the social media post, Turner-Smith added her own commentary, writing: “I understand the pressure to ‘back off’, but the reality is: it’s *completely* impossible. Your body has to go through its own journey and being a gateway for a new soul is a huge physical, emotional and spiritual task!!!”

She continued: “Be kind to yourselves, mamas. And don’t let anyone make you think that you have to be ‘normal’ again two seconds after giving birth.”

Turner-Smith broke her silence on the split earlier this year. “Sometimes things we really want to work on don’t end up working,” she told Britain’s The Times in February. “And that’s okay. The most important thing is that you choose what is healthiest for you and your family and especially for your children.”

Turner-Smith explained at the time why she didn’t see her marriage as “a failure”, adding: “There are so many different moments in our lives where we look at ourselves and say, ‘Who am I and am I? is that right?’ If the answer is no, then you need to do something because I believe there are visible scars from staying in places that are not good for us. And they don’t just affect us, they affect everyone around us.”

Jackson has not yet publicly discussed the breakup. He is linked Lupita Nyong’o since late last year, when they were spotted spending time together following her split from her boyfriend Selema Masekela.
