John Stamos sings about the failed Willy Wonka experience

It turns out that Willy Wonka’s immersive experience in Glasgow, Scotland, in February was an even bigger disaster than previously reported.

In fact, it may have been the beginning of the apocalypse, according to a new music video from actor John Stamos called “Willy’s Candy Spectacular,” which is the opening number of a new musical in the works called “Willy’s Candy Spectacular: A Musical Parody.”

Stamos’ song explains what could be the end of civilization as we know it tracing back to the disastrous Wonka-themed event earlier this year, it was bad police were called to the scene by irate customers.

“We were told to give [kids] a jelly bean and a quarter cup of lemonade,’ performer Paul Connell told the Independent. “No chocolate with the chocolate experience. There’s supposed to be a chocolate fountain somewhere, but I never saw it.”

Stamos’s opening text suggests that the tragic event was only the beginning of the end of the world:

It was the beginning of the end of the world/ Its meaning was easy to miss/ An evil plan became a viral craze/ took us to the apocalypse/ Some thought it would be Trump or Putin/ setting the world on fire / Some thought it would be masks or Covid vaccinations / that led to the end of days / But no! It was Willy’s Candy Spectacular!’

The song’s composers, Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, said in a release that they love musicals with epic opening numbers and thought, “What could be more epic than John Stamos singing about the end of humanity and the demise of our species links to a disappointing, compelling world. experience in Scotland?”

The song is one of three songs from the musical that will be released on Monday. Another, ‘Dreamed to dare’ features a performance by Kirsty Paterson, who went viral as the ‘sad Oompa-Loompa’ at the event.

Additional songs will appear every Sunday before a staged reading of the musical debut on August 9 at the Edinburgh Fringe Fest 2024.

Stamos’ participation in that event has yet to be determined, the musical’s rep said.
