Keshet International presents Mipcom Slate with 'Too Much Love', 'SAS'

Keshet International has laid down its plans for Mipcom, with highlights including the thriller ‘Too Much Love’, the docuseries ‘SAS: Catching the Criminals’ and the romcom ‘Save the Date’.

“Too Much Love” (“L’homme qui aim trop”) by Slovak prodco Piknik Pictures is an eight-episode thriller with a twist, based on the Canadian format of Duo Productions. It tells the story of a man whose two wives meet for the first time after he is hospitalized following a car accident. The show will premiere in Slovakia in September on the free-to-air broadcaster TV JOJ.

Factual series “SAS: Catching the Criminals” is a 10-part acquisition (format and tape) from Double Act about an ex-SAS leader who collaborates with British law enforcement agencies to deploy covert intelligence, surveillance and disruption tactics against offenders. The film is expected to premiere on the BBC in Britain this fall.

“Save the date,” that one Variety Revealed exclusively on Wednesday, is a rom-com starring Tomer Capon and Adi Havshush, in which Havshush plays a heartbroken wedding planner who must fend off multiple suitors after a centuries-old love spell goes wrong. The film will premiere in Israel on September 2.

Other Keshet International drama titles to watch include the multilingual series “Valhalla Project,” created by Jari Olavi Rantala and starring Sara Soulié (“Conflict”) and Alistair Brammer (“Les Misérables”), and the crime drama by Artza Productions from seven episodes. “The 11th Body” (formerly known as “Palo Alto”), which stars Magi Azarzar (“The Sirens”) as a police detective navigating gang wars and burying family secrets after discovering a dead body. Both shows have been selected for Mipcom’s drama showcase.

KI also sells ‘Rough Diamonds’, an eight-part drama set in Antwerp’s iconic diamond district and co-produced by De Mensen and KI for Netflix and VRT, and ‘Echo 3’, starring Jessica Ann Collins as a kidnapped scientist. Luke Evans and Michiel Huisman plan to bring her home. It is produced by Keshet Studios for Apple TV+. Meanwhile, ‘Conflict’ is a six-part, multilingual political thriller produced by Backmann & Hoderhoff and XYZ Films.

KI’s factual list includes Woodcut Media’s 10-part crime docuseries ‘Catch Me If You Can,’ Perpetual Entertainment’s ‘Hitler’s Treasure Hunters’ – a six-episode series about the Nazis’ theft of historical relics – and ‘Seven Wonders of the Ancient World” from SandStone Global, a six-part ancient history series presented by Professor Bettany Hughes.

Other unscripted titles include “World’s Most Evil Killers” (Woodcut Media), “Trucking Hell” season 8 (Crackit Productions) and the internationally Emmy Award-nominated “Dear Neighbors,” about rural town parents trying to find a local love match for their ambitious son or daughter.

“We’re thrilled to complement our most high-profile drama series to date with two very different relationship dramas – the feel-good rom-com ‘Save The Date’ and the European thriller ‘Too Much Love,’ said Kelly Wright, MD of distribution at KI. “They join crime drama ‘The 11th Body’ and mystery thriller ‘Valhalla Project’, both MIP drama show shortlisted titles, in addition to two KI-produced thrillers, ‘Rough Diamonds’ and ‘Echo 3.’”

“This Mipcom marks a major first for us – our actual slate will include two shows that we have greenlit for production and distribution,” Wright continued. “We are proud to be launching ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and ‘Hitler’s Treasure Hunters’ alongside BBC One’s ‘SAS: Catching the Criminals’ starring ex-SAS legend Billy Billingham.”

The producer and distributor returns to Cannes with its largest delegation since 2019, including sales coordinator Kate Orlovsky, who will be based at Riviera 7 at the Palais des Festivals.
