Matthew Perry‘s death is publicly considered an open and shut case, but as far as authorities are concerned, they are still trying to figure out how he obtained a certain drug… TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us there is an ongoing investigation into where Matthew obtained the ketamine that ultimately played a role in his death – and the key questions are who supplied the drug, and under what circumstances.
Our sources say both local law enforcement and the DEA have been investigating this case for months, but it’s unclear where exactly investigators are in the investigation.
We do know that they have already interviewed some key figures in Hollywood.
While our sources could not provide names, they told us that investigators have contacted and spoken to people known to have a history of drug use or abuse.
We are told that these people are not necessarily the actual source of ketamine, but they may have information leading to the source. No arrests have been made so far.
TMZ broke the story …Matthew’s assistant found him unconscious in the hot tub of his Pacific Palisades home on October 28, 2023. First responders – who arrived at the property after suffering cardiac arrest – pronounced him dead at the scene.
Although it was initially believed that Matthew had drowned, the toxicology report confirmed that he had drowned died from the acute effects of ketamine.
According to the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office, Matthew was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety more than a week before his death – but the ME concluded that the ketamine in his system when he died was not due to the treatment.
Of course, that suggests that Matt got ketamine from some other source… possibly outside of a medical setting. That’s exactly what the police have been trying to determine.
This wouldn’t be the first time the FBI helped investigate a celebrity drug-related death in which they became involved Mac MolenaarAlso the 2018 overdose – which led to three men being charged with supplying the drugs that killed the rapper.
In May 2022, Stefan Walter used to be sentenced to more than 17 years in jail… after taking a plea deal for supplying Mac with fentanyl-laced pills.
Ryan Reavis got a prison sentence of 11 years as the middleman who delivered Walter’s drugs Cameron Pettit, which she then gave to Mac. Petit’s case is still pending.
Expect similar charges if police finally manage to track down the source of Perry’s fatal dose of ketamine.
