Leonardo DiCaprio's vegan shoe brand posts a $3.5 million loss

Leonardo DiCaprioThe jet-set lifestyle cost his vegan shoe company millions of dollars in losses, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

The Oscar winner was labeled a hypocrite for his excessive lifestyle, which resulted in a $3.5 million setback for the eco-friendly shoe brand he invested in.

DiCaprio, 49, may have earned the title of environmentalist and conservationist social advocate for his years of fighting the climate crisis, but he is now being called an eco-hypocrite for his use of private jets.

Despite urging others to get personally involved in fighting climate change and living an eco-friendly lifestyle, he has seemingly ignored his own advice – and fans have noticed too.

The 49-year-old is often spotted spending his days off mega yachts with models and flying around the world on his fuel-guzzling private jet. The environmental activist was praised online for his ecological footprint.

On X, a user wrote: “Leonardo DiCaprio is the worst offender of his climate hypocrisy!”

Another user echoed: “First of all, Leonardo DiCaprio, if you give up your gigantic carbon footprint the size of a thousand normal people and start living off the land with no electricity, no fossil fuels and no plastic… then you can lecture others about the environment… see you then.

The online reactions seemed to spill over into one of DiCaprio’s eco-driven investments.

The Titanic star put his $300 million fortune to invest in vegan shoe brand Wild Loci, which makes sneakers from recycled materials including bamboo, foam and rubber. The brand also gives back by recycling twenty plastic bottles for every pair made.

Unfortunately for the brand, the backlash against DiCaprio’s lavish lifestyle has negatively affected their bottom line.

According to financial statements filed with Companies House, the brand had a loss of $3,479,440 in April 2023. Statements from the year before recorded a loss of $1,245,796.

While DiCaprio – who once called the climate crisis “the most urgent threat to our entire species” – invested his own fortune in the company, he also reportedly invested $97 million in a global conservation project to protect endangered species from global developers.

The actor also sits on the boards of several environmentally focused organizations, including the World Wildlife Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, Pristine Seas and Oceans 5.

DiCaprio may have dedicated a significant portion of his adult life to advocating for environmental issues — such as founding the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998, which serves to educate and fund a range of environmental causes — but his lifestyle choices are beginning to overshadow his honest work .
