Heavyweight Lost star Jorge Garcia has sparked concerns about his health – and alarmed friends reveal the 300-plus pounder has refused to go on a diet, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The 6-foot-2 actor, best known for his role as lottery winner Hugo “Hurley” Reyes in the sci-fi TV series that ran from 2004 to 2010, was recently photographed running errands in Los Angeles looking taller than ever .

Garcia was seen in LA for the first time in three years.

In his first public sighting in three years, Garcia, 51, shocked fans with his oversized appearance. The sci-fi star was dressed in a blue striped sweatshirt, gray pants and wore a bandana over his head with sunglasses for a low-key look.

While Garcia, who has kept a low profile in recent years, seemingly tried to hide himself during the outing, his weight gain was noticeable – and sources claim his inner circle is very concerned about his health.

Sources claim Garcia has “given up trying” to lose weight.

“He has always struggled with his weight but has now given up trying to lose weight and says he is happy the way he is and will not risk his health with crash diets anymore, even though he now weighs over 300 pounds .” a spy flocked to the Globe.

The 51 year old Hawaii-Five-O The actor reportedly lost almost 50 pounds due to health issues during the six-season series Lost.

The tipster said the “Lost” star “eats whatever he wants” and “no one can convince him to change his behavior.”

“I can afford not to live on rum and burritos and to take better care of myself,” he admitted in 2006.

But now friends fear he has ‘completely sworn off restricting his diet’.

“He eats whatever he wants, including tons of fast food, but no one can convince him to change his lifestyle,” the source said.

“He is well aware that those around him are terribly worried, but he insists he is doing well,” the insider added. “He has been living at this large size for a long time and has no health problems, so he claims this proves it is not as big a problem as people think it is.”

But Dr. Stuart Fischer, author of The Little Book of Big Medical Emergencies, warned, “Just because you feel good doesn’t mean your health is good.”

“People who say they are healthy despite being overweight have not had biopsies of their arteries to see if there is arteriosclerosis,” Fischer added.

The doctor noted that obesity can lead to cardiovascular disease, blood clots, poor circulation and an increased risk of cancer.

“Jorge can say all he wants, but there’s no denying that being that heavy can have serious health consequences,” the tipster stated.
