๐Ÿ€ Good morning everyone, but especially…

THE DALLAS MAVERICKS AND THE BOSTON CELTICS

Luka Doncic was ready for battle in Game 5: a sleeve over a back knee, shoulder tape, a one-sleeve undershirt that looks like it’s been through the wringer, and an illness to boot.

And then he showed again why he is the soldier you want at your side in the biggest games. Doncic produced a gritty yet beautiful double-double with 35 points and 10 assists, and Dallas hit the Hair clippers123-93, to take a 3-2 series lead in what could have been LA’s last game in the city before the team moves to Inglewood.

Dallas led by 10 at halftime and by 20 entering the fourth quarter, with Doncic’s takeover in the third quarter the big difference, writes Colin Ward-Henninger.

On the east coast is the Celtics they don’t mess around, and their first step of revenge is complete. Boston suppressed Miami 118-84 to end their first-round series 4-1. It is the second biggest loss in the play-offs Heat history and the second-largest win in a series-clinching game in Celtics history.

  • Dirk White continued his postseason surge with 25 points after his 38 in Game 4. The 63 points combined are his most ever in a two-game, regular season or playoff span.
  • The Celtics had no problems in their first playoff game without Kristaps Porzingis (calf strain), who wants probably miss the entire second round too. In expanded roles, Sam Hauser scored 17 points and made five three-pointers, and Lucas Kornet was +21 in 18 minutes.
  • Miami shot just 10.3% (3 for 29) from 3. It’s the second-worst percentage in a postseason game (with a minimum of 25 attempts) in NBA history.

Without Jimmy Butler, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Terry Rozier And Josh Richardson, the Heat didn’t have a chance and quietly went against the team they knocked out last year. The Heat were once expected to land Damian Lillardand it’s hard not to think about it how their season would have been different if that had happenedwrites Sam Quinn.

THE LA CLIPPERS

It’s one thing to put your team on your back for a big playoff game. It’s a completely different thing to do it for a series. Again, James Harden And Paul George couldn’t do the latter.

  • Harden in Game 4: 33 points on 12-for-17 shooting | Harden in Game 5: 7 points on 2-for-12 shooting
  • George in Game 4: 33 points on 11-for-19 shooting | George in Game 5: 15 points on 4-for-13 shooting

That didn’t help Russell Westbrook‘s tough run continued – 2-for-11 shooting – and Kawhi Leonard (knee) fails and there is no return in sight. The result? LA suffered biggest playoff loss ever.

The Clippers are on the brink of yet another early exit, and it seems unlikely that their biggest names will save them.

๐Ÿ‘€ This should be LeBron James’ next move if he wants to win a title

Le Bron James has has gone out of his way to make sure people know about it he doesn’t know what the future holds. The 39-year-old megastar has two months to consider whether he will return to the Lakers or go somewhere else.

A lot will change in those two months. James will certainly take head coach status into account Darvin Ham — whose future is with the franchise in danger – and the selection of the team as a whole. Can Los Angeles provisional version Bronnie James, fulfilling LeBron’s dream of playing with his son? Can it trade for Trae Youngan offensive inferno of which fit is questionable? There’s a lot on the plate and don’t expect a decision anytime soon.

But in the end he will have to make the decision, and if his main goal is his fifth title, James should be in the game the 76erswrites Sam.

  • Quinn: “With only Joel EmbidWith a $51.4 million salary and Maxey’s $13 million minimum cap hit on the books, the 76ers are looking at virtually unlimited cap space. … This makes putting together a schedule relatively easy. … Even a max contract for James would give the 76ers more than $15 million in cap space, as would a revamped cap room mid-level exception that netted nearly $8 million last season. Philadelphia could use these assets to sign more free agents, but they could also use them in trades. Remember, the 76ers will have five tradeable first-round picks this offseason thanks to their trade for James Harden in November.โ€

On paper, it’s all coming together nicely, although games aren’t played on paper, and Philly would need to add a lot of space and pace around a hypothetical James-Embiid-Maxey Big Three.

And, as Sam notes, James may not want to uproot his life. Maybe winning with the Lakers means more to him than winning anywhere else. Maybe it’s not even worth speculating, because we have no idea what he values โ€‹โ€‹most. But if it’s ring number five, Philadelphia is an attractive โ€“ and realistic โ€“ destination. Before you dismiss it, read Sam’s thoughtful, balanced piece.

โšฝ Borussia Dortmund leads PSG 1-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final

Borussia Dortmund is halfway through its first UEFA Champions League final since 2013 after a 1-0 win in the first leg PSG. Niclas Fullkrug set up the only goal in the 36th minute, expertly getting a long goal Nico Schlotterbeck passing and don’t make a mistake at the finish.

PSG, meanwhile, were denied by goalposts in the second half and squandered several other chances. But Les Parisiens The tide could turn next weekwrites Jonathan Johnson.

  • Johnson: “To expect Luis Enrique to slightly adjust his attacking approach by responding to that Kylian Mbappe‘s positioning and involvement much better in the second half and Ousmane Dembele needs a slightly more clinical edge for goal. Randal Kolo Muani‘s cameo was interesting in terms of work rate, but that could also be it Goncalo Ramos‘a predatory touch that will make the difference next week, depending on Paris’s approach to the scenario that is still in favor of PSG, just about.’

In case you missed it during the whirlwind of last weekend’s NFL Draft, Ryan Wilson dropped his 2025 NFL First Round Mock Draftand Blake Brockermeyer evaluated how strong each position group is a year out.

But what about the schools that produce these potential choices? Chip Patterson looked at the college teams loaded with the most 2025 draft talentand at the top of the list is…

  • Patterson: State of Ohio | Notable prospects: CB Denzel BurkeEDGE JT TuimoloauW Emeka EgbukaEDGE Jack SawyerRB Quinshon JudkinsDL Tyleik WilliamsOL Donovan JacksonRB TreVeyon Henderson – As we wrote in the Winners and losers of the NFL Draft over the weekend, Ohio State had a 2024 NFL Draft that went both ways. On the one hand, four picks marked a drop in production after at least six players had been drafted every year since 2016. … The other side of that is the handful of players who could have turned pro in 2024 but chose to come back to Columbus and lead what is going to be one of the most talented teams in the sport.โ€

There is one program โ€“ the most important NFL player producer of the past decade, in fact โ€“ that is surprising not to make Chips list.
