Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Denver after woman’s death
A man was arrested Tuesday in Denver on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, police said.
Denver officers arrested 50-year-old Brian Mervin on investigation of a “domestic violence-related homicide” after his wife died Monday, a police spokesman said. press release from the police station.
Just after 6 p.m. Monday, Mervin stopped someone in the 4000 block of North Adams Street — about three miles north of the Denver Zoo and Museum of Nature and Science — and asked them to call 911, stating that he found his wife found the ground. Police say he is having trouble breathing.
Denver paramedics took the woman to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries, police said in the news release.
After first responders noticed the woman’s injuries, detectives began investigating her death as a homicide, police said. Police officials did not elaborate on the nature or extent of the woman’s injuries, but said they were consistent with an assault.
Mervin was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of his wife and will appear in court for a hearing Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
