Matty Healy feels 'uncomfortable' focusing on Taylor Swift romance

The 75’s Matty Healey focuses on his new relationship after inspiring his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift‘s latest album.

‘Matty feels uncomfortable with the renewed attention to his relationship [with Taylor] – mainly because he is [with someone] new,” an insider reveals exclusively in the new issue of We weekly.

Healy, 35, started dating a model Gabriella Bechtel in September 2023. Three months earlier that year, in June, Us confirmed that Healy and Swift, 34, have called off their brief romance. The pair, who were first linked in 2014, rekindled their connection shortly after news broke of Swift’s divorce in April 2023. Joe Alwyn.

Despite her sometimes scathing songwriting – Swift doesn’t hold back on ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’ and ‘I Can Fix Him (No Real I Can)’ – a separate insider said Us last month that Healy felt “relief” about the album.

“Matty still thinks highly of Taylor, but we were all nervous about what she might have said on the album,” the source added, noting that Healy “couldn’t be happier” about how TTPD pale.

According to the insider, Healy’s family were “worried” that the songs would “tear him apart”, adding: “Matty has struggled with life in the public eye, and he is doing very well, but the last thing he needs is for every Swiftie in the world to think he’s a bad guy.

While fans have looked into Swift and Healy’s long history, he has kept a low profile. “He is very happy in his new relationship, so I’m sure he will focus on that,” says his aunt Debbie Dedes told the Daily email on April 19.

Dedes added that as a fellow songwriter, Healy probably wouldn’t be surprised by Swift’s approach. “She writes about all her relationships, doesn’t she?” she told the outlet. “I don’t think it will come as a shock to him. … He won’t be surprised by the number. He and she know what happened.”

Healy, for his part, was asked about his TTPD “diss track” while on the road days later. “I haven’t listened to it much yet, but I’m sure it’s good,” he said in a video obtained by Entertainment tonight.
