Michelle Obama’s mother Marian Robinson has died at the age of 86

Robinson lived with Michelle and Barack in the White House during their time in office and was a staunch supporter, enjoying the views and historical sites rather than “hopping with Oscar winners or Nobel laureates.”

“On election night in 2008, when the news broke that Barack would soon carry the weight of the world, she was there holding his hand,” they shared. “With a healthy push, she agreed to move into the White House with Michelle and Barack. We needed her. The girls needed her.”

She later returned to Chicago, where Robinson reconnected with old friends and got back to doing what she loved: “exchanging wisdom, traveling and enjoying a good glass of wine.”
