More than 600 flights delayed at Denver International Airport due to thunderstorms

More than 600 flights were delayed at Denver International Airport on Friday as a severe thunderstorm brought wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour across the region.

There were 609 flights delayed as of 8 p.m. according to the flight tracking website FlightAwaremost of which were on Southwest and United Airlines.

Arriving flights are delayed up to 30 minutes due to wind, This was reported by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the airport and parts of Adams and Arapahoe counties, with wind gusts up to 60 mph and pea-sized hail possible until 8:30 p.m.
